How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal:

Laser hair removal is more than just ''zapping'' unwanted hair. It is a 'Medical' procedure that requires thorough advanced training to perform and carries potential risks if it is not adhered to correctly.

If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, you should limit your plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for at least six weeks before treatments start. This is because the laser targets the hairs' roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.

Sun Exposure should also be avoided in the area to be treated for upto 6 weeks after the treatment as sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective after treatment.

Costs for Laser treatments can range depending on areas to be treated and how many sessions are required, we offer both single and package treatments of 6 or 12 depending on what is suggested by the highly trained Therapists.

Laser treatments are carried out in intervals of between 6 - 12 weeks depending on hair growth patterns and cycles

There are actually 3 stages of hair growth:

  • Anagen
  • Catagen
  • Telogen

Treatments are scheduled around the 1st stage of growth called the Anagen stage in order to work towards a goal of permanent hair removal.

Stage 1– Anagen This stage is the beginning phase of hair growth. This is when the hair is visible above the skin and is still attached to the papilla. Anagen phase is ideal for laser hair removal because the hair folicle is still attached to the papilla.   The laser can attack the papilla and prevent any new growth. This stage usually lasts for about 2-3 weeks and occurs for both facial and body hair.

Stage 2– Catagen  This stage is not exactly ideal for permanent hair removal as it is during this stage that the hair begins to shed, this shedding is not the same as after the treatment. This can last about 2 days, so not very long. You can still have the treatment as the follicle will produce another hair.

Stage 3– Telogen  This is the final stage of hair growth and is the one stage where laser treatment cannot be done. This is because the hair is neither growing nor developing and it is no longer attached to the papilla.

How The Cycles Effect You:

It can take 6-12 weeks for hair to grow from the papilla to show above the skin. This growing stage is the perfect time to receive laser hair removal treatments, and it may take a few treatments over a period of a few weeks (usually about 6/8 weeks apart) to get the desired results because hair will still grow in the same area, even though it isn’t the same hair.

Because of this, it is very important to keep on your regimen with your treatments. Missing a treatment could allow your hair to enter the 2nd stage of growth if you get treatments during the Catagen stage, it will likely not be as effective.
